Conference Highlights
The 2016-2017 Wilkes University Men's Tennis Team won the Freedom Conference Title for the ninth straight year (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017). The Colonels earned an automatic bid into the NCAA National Tournament!! The Colonels are now a combined 174-30 over the past ten years, with ten consecutive conference titles and ten straight appearances in the NCAA National Tournament.
The Colonels also tied the school record for wins this season, and were ranked for the first time ever!
Post Season Highlights
The Wilkes Tennis Team won the Freedom Conference Title for the tenth consecutive year! This team then advanced into the NCAA National Tournament. Wilkes advanced to the NCAA 2nd round for the 5th time in school history!
Also, the men were honored by being named an ITA All-American Academic Team!
Tournament Highlights
The Wilkes University Men's team qualified for the 2017 NCAA National Tournament! This is the tenth straight year the team has appeared in the NCAA National Tournament.
Also, this Wilkes team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tourney with a dominating 5-0 win in the first round of NCAA's!
Individual Achievements
Courtney 'Jaycen' Murphy became the 1st ever All-American at Wilkes University! He finished in the top 16 in the nation!
The Wilkes Men's team placed 6 individuals on the prestigious All-Conference team. Courtney Murphy and Artyom Nabokin were all named to the First Team. Adam Lefkandinos, Andrew Neidig and Troy Haas were named to the Second Team. Wilkes also swept the major awards, with Courtney Murphy being named Player of the Year!!
Also, the Wilkes Team had players selected to the All-Conference Academic team and the All-American Academic Team.
Coaching Achievements
Head Coach Leicht led both his women's and men's teams to Conference Titles and NCAA berths this past year. Over the past 11 years, Leicht has won 11 women's titles and 10 men's titles. He has led all 21 of those teams to the NCAA National Tournament!
This year, Leicht was awarded the PTR National College Tennis Coach of the Year!
Leicht has also been named Conference Coach of the Year 9 times!
Coach Leicht has a 455-96 College Coaching Record, and holds all career tennis records at Wilkes University. Before coaching at Wilkes, Leicht was the head boy's tennis coach at Danville where he posted a career 57-4 record. Leicht's career overall coaching record stands at 512-100.
Coach Leicht is a PTR Certified teaching professional, and also serves on the NCAA Regional Ranking Committee. He is a full-time coach at Wilkes University, and also oversees their indoor athletic tennis facility.
