Coaching Achievements
Alicia Barto joined the Methodist Women’s Tennis coaching staff as an assistant in September 2021. In the summer of 2023, she was promoted to Head Coach of the Women’s Tennis program. Barto also teaches Spanish classes in the Arts, Humanities & Sciences College and serves as a part-time faculty in the PTM Program at Methodist.
In her first season, she led the Monarchs to a third-place finish in the USA South Conference with a 10-7 record (6-2 in the conference). Barto also had two players selected as USA South All-Conference selections.
As a junior player, she had immense success playing ITF and WTA professional tournaments. Barto was ranked among the top 500 players in the ITF world junior rankings and earned two points on the WTA professional tour, one for singles and one for doubles.
At the college level, she played for both Lindsey Wilson College (NAIA) and Troy University (NCAA D1). She was ranked as high as #3 nationally for singles and #2 doubles in the NAIA at Lindsey Wilson in her two years there before moving to Troy University where her team reached the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Barto earned her B.S. in Political Science in 2017 and her M.S. in International Relations in 2019 from Troy University. She is certified by the PTR and USPTA as a Level Two Tennis Teaching Professional.
