Coaching Achievements
Head Coach William Boe-Wiegaard aka "Coach Boe," played on the ATP/ITF pro tour for nine years (2006-2015), won 70 ATP world ranking points, and reached a career high of top 1000 in singles and doubles in 2013. Before the tour, he played college tennis while studying biochemistry at Bates College. He performed well in the classroom and became a National Scholars Honor Society member. On the courts he played #1 singles and doubles all four years, was a five-time All-American in singles and doubles and the 2005 DIII NCAA Singles Runner-Up, the 2006 DIII NCAA Singles Champion, and finished his collegiate tennis career as the #1 ranked DIII singles player in the country. He has coached ATP and WTA players and is enjoying the experience of being a DI head coach. His goal is to build the most competitive program possible and he is only interested in working with players who have a strong passion for the game, are highly intelligent, have strong problem solving skills, are respectful, athletic, understand team dynamics, are thirsty for tennis knowledge and want to see how good they can get over their collegiate tennis career. Players that come to SHU should expect to be pushed on a daily basis to become the best they can be, and never be satisfied or complacent. When goals have been reached, new goals will be set.
