The Recruiting Process - Is It Ever Too Early?
by
Dede Allen, 8 June 2009
Signing day has come and gone!! Well almost, this group of seniors has until August 1 to make their final decision. This is a process some of them started quite a while ago.
Question:
I'm a rising junior in high school, is it too early to start the recruiting process?
Answer:
Quite the contrary! Whenever I do a presentation I always state "it's never too early to start" thinking about the whole process. The premise is that the better your grades are, the more opportunities will become available to you. I actually wrote an article called College Tennis for Middle School.
Your main responsibility prior to your senior year it to make sure that your academics are as strong as they can be - study, study, study. Admissions offices look at your complete high school transcript, not just your senior year. On the flip side, admissions continues reviewing your transcript until you have successfully completed your senior year. Beware of senioritis!
