Recruiting 101
Why Should Recruits Participate in College Showcases?
Share:

As a tennis player, you are always looking for ways to improve your game and gain exposure to college tennis coaches. This is where a College Tennis Showcase can help.

Here are six reasons why you should participate:

  1. A College Tennis Showcase is a great opportunity to get in some quality match play while also improving your UTR rating. For example, the matches you play at the American College Placement Showcase at SMU count for your UTR.
  2. Playing in front of college coaches is good for development. Playing in front of a crowd can be nerve-racking, but it's also an excellent opportunity to improve your mental game and learn how to perform under pressure.
  3. College coaches get to view your athleticism, competitiveness and other intangibles. This is your chance to showcase your skills to college coaches and show them what you can bring to their program.
  4. You never know who you might impress at the Showcase, and you may find a college program that you hadn't considered before. You may connect with a college program and coach that isn’t currently on your short list of options.
  5. College coaches are a tight-knit community. Even if none of the coaches in attendance are the right fit for you, chances are they are friends with a coach who is. Coaches communicate very regularly with others in their network about recruits.
  6. It's fun to see some different players and different styles than you might at a regular tournament. The Showcase will be a great opportunity to play against players from different regions and see some different styles of play.
