USTA Southwest Section USTA Southwest juniors put in one of the Section's best team results in quite awhile recently, winning the USTA Boys/Girls 14 Southwest Zone Team Championships at the Westgate Tennis Center in Dothan, Ala., July 6-10.

Pitted against nine other teams from three other USTA Sections (Midwest, Northern California and Southern California), the 12-member co-ed Southwest squad went 5-0 in the tournament, held on Westgate's 16 Har-Tru clay courts.
In their opening match in Flight A, Southwest rolled over Northern California 18-0. The Southwest team then followed it up with a 10-8 victory over Midwest C then had to roll off victories against three Southern California teams in a row - defeating So Cal C 10-6, So Cal A 11-7.
USTA Southwest clinched the event championship with a convincing 14-4 win over So Cal B in the finals to finish the 5-day tournament with an unblemished record.
