They did - and the world won. But a pair of young Americans may have provided a glimpse of the future.
Muhammed teamed with Frilling at the Open

Kristy Frilling of Sidney, Ohio, teamed up with
Asia Muhammed of Henderson, Nev., to almost reach the final of the
Junior Girls' doubles at America's premier tennis event
The young unseeded duo entered the draw with a wild card, then showed why they were worthy of one.
With Muhammed starting points with her huge serve and Frilling ending them with crisp volleys at the net, the Americans began their remarkable tournament by defeating Alexa Guarachi of Destin, Fla., and Poojashree Venkatesha of India 6-2, 6-2. Next fell the fifth-seeded team of Gail Brodsky of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia 6-3, 6-1.
