The phone call arrived promptly at noon on June 15th. It was the first day college coaches could begin contacting Elaine Chervinsky, and Virginia coach Sara O’Leary didn’t waste any time trying to reach the blue chip junior.

“I was kind of scared for a few minutes because I thought it was some random person calling,” said Chervinksy, a Maryland native who trains at the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Florida. “But then remembered what day it was and I really wanted to take it.”
Chervinsky decided to take a visit to Virginia - her first and only campus visit. She didn’t need to see any more before committing to the Cavaliers.
“I just knew I wanted to go there,” Chervinksy said. “Virginia was my top choice and I really loved my visit. It was perfect. The girls on the team are amazing, and the coaches really took care of the little details to develop our relationship. I feel like I really fit there.”
