Top Women's Classes - 2007 Winter Rankings
by Dallas Oliver, 5 February 2007
The Spring Signing Period is just two months away, but many senior girls have already made their college choices known - either by signing Fall Letters of Intent or announcing verbal commitments. A quick check over the commitment lists shows that more than half of the nation's Top 100 are already committed and off the board.
So... how does your school stack up? This is as good a time as any to take a look at the top classes, and The Tennis Recruiting Network shows you where things stands with its Winter Rankings of the Top 25 Women's Recruiting Classes of 2007.
Keep in mind that these lists are very preliminary. Many top athletes - US and foreign - have yet to make their decisions. And traditional powerhouses like Stanford and Florida usually make late runs to pick up strong classes.
Media Poll
A panel of junior tennis experts has once again volunteered to help us determine the top classes. Journalists, tournament directors, referees, and ranking chairmen from across the country have taken the time to vote on these recruiting classes. The panelists for this list are shown later in the article.
Each panelist submitted his/her list of the Top 25 recruiting classes. Schools received 25 points for each first-place vote, 24 points for each second-place vote, on down to 1 point for each 25th-place vote. Because data for transfer students is so hard to come by, we asked the panelists to not consider transfer students in the voting process.
