Who's Hot?
Prince Hot 100 List - October '14
Share:

This time of year, the Countdown to Signing Day takes over the website. But we take time out for our regular features - like recognizing junior players who have been playing great tennis in the Prince Hot 100.

The Prince Hot 100 lists are published each month, and the October Hot 100 lists feature the one hundred boys and girls who most improved their rankings during the month of September. You can find out more about the Prince Hot 100 - and how the lists are calculated - by reading here.

The latest lists, published last week, are available here:

Let's check out a few of these top performers...

Roundup

Julieanne Bou (New Braunfels, Texas)

Three star freshman Julieanne Bou was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. She began playing there at a young age and found a passion for the sport.

She played on the world junior tennis team and won the pre-qualifier in el Salvador when she was eleven years old. Her team then went on to Mexico to play the qualifier against the U.S. and Canada.

Shortly after, Bou and her family moved to New Braunfels, Texas. She now attends the John Newcombe Tennis Academy, where she is working on many aspects of her game.

"My coaches are helping me on the shape of my balls, to be more patient in every point and to keep my focus because I get distracted very easily," she said.

Bou describes herself as very determined. "I believe what distinguishes me from other players is my desire to win every point, how I enjoy playing even when I'm losing and how I stay positive from the first point until the end," she said.

Her old coach from Puerto Rico, Juan Carlos Escudero, commends Bou for her fighting spirit. "Julieanne is a fighter. She could be down 6-0 5-0 (40-0), and she will still be giving 100 percent on the court," he said.

Bou used this skill in a recent match at the ATA Fall Open National Showcase. She met four-star freshman Callie Creath in the semifinals. Bou was injured, making this a very difficult match.

"I gave all I had in the first set and won, then I couldn't in the second, so I lost," Bou said. "In the tiebreaker, I was down 8-2 and won 10-8."

She went on to reach the finals of this tournament. Also in September, Bou won the consolation draw of the Dallas Champ Super Tournament and reached the playoff finals of the USTA National Selection Tournament.

Bou has high hopes for the future of both her game and her education. "Although my dream is to go pro, I do plan on furthering my education after high school," she said.
