Inaugural Class Rankings

One of the most popular features at TennisRecruiting.net is the Class Rankings. These lists show rankings for junior U.S. tennis players - from recent graduates to rising 7th graders. Thousands of kids can find out how they stack up against their classmates. These lists will be updated each week for boys (Tuesday) and girls (Wednesday).

The Class Rankings are also the backbone of TennisRecruiting.net - we use these lists to determine both the Star Ratings and Hot 100.

Wait... Where is My Name?

If you are a junior tennis player who plays national or sectional tournaments, then you are a candidate for our Class Rankings. However, there are many reasons why your name might not appear:

  • To ensure that you are on the proper list, we must have a verified graduation year. If you are a parent or a current player, create a free account and update your graduation year now!
  • To be eligible for our lists, a player must compete in at least three tournaments with a minimum number of wins. Check out our FAQ to read more about eligibility.

About the Lists

The Class Rankings promise to be the gold standard when it comes to college recruiting. The rankings, updated weekly for both boys and girls, use a sophisticated head-to-head ranking system to determine the top junior tennis players in the United States. The lists are used by college coaches across the country at all levels as a tool for college recruiting.

The TennisRecruiting.net Class Rankings are unique in that they are broken down by high school graduation year rather than age or ability level. When you are considered for college scholarships, coaches compare you with other players in your graduating class - and college coaches want a ranking list that reflects that comparison. The Class Rankings are the only such rankings that provide a true head-to-head comparison.

How the Rankings are Calculated

The Class Rankings at TennisRecruiting.net have several characteristics that make them different from other lists. Here are some characteristics of this ranking system:

  • As mentioned above, the Class Rankings are broken down by high school graduation year.
  • All matches across all age divisions for the past twelve months are used in rankings calculations.
  • These lists use a head-to-head system rather than a points system: the quality of your opponents matters while the round that you reach in a particular tournament does not.
  • A key differentiator of this system when compared to other head-to-head systems is that there is additional emphasis on winning matches. Your best eight wins during the past year are a component of the ranking.
  • Another differentiator is that recent wins are more significant than older wins.
  • To be eligible for the Class Rankings, a player must: (1) update his/her graduation year, (2) compete in at least three tournaments during the preceding twelve-month period, and (3) win at least three matches in those tournaments.
