The Stanford Cardinal women's tennis team has landed one of the premier recruits in the nation.
Taylor Davidson, with an RPI of No. 1, has committed to the storied Stanford program, winners of 16 NCAA Division I Women's Team Championships. Davidson, from Statesville, N.C., plans to sign the National Letter of Intent this month.
Among others, eight top schools recruited Taylor, who is ranked No. 6 nationally: Vanderbilt, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Georgia, Oklahoma State, and Wake Forest.
The 17-year-old Taylor took official visits to Stanford, Vanderbilt, and Alabama, before deciding in October she wanted to spend her collegiate career playing at "The Farm."
"While I was going through the recruiting process, I was concerned about being able to decide between all of these great schools," said Taylor. "My friends told me that whatever school you end up committing to, you'll know the first time you set foot on campus that it's the one. You'll just get this feeling."
Taylor's visit to "the heart of Silicon Valley" convinced her that Stanford was indeed the one. She spoke at length with Director of Tennis Lele Forood and Associate Head Coach Frankie Brennan. Taylor also said she liked "hanging out with the team members," and that they were a big part of why she picked Stanford.
