Burdette Wins USTA National Clays

Her left wrist has healed properly.

So has her right.

And, mentally, she may be stronger than she was before the two surgeries earlier this year kept her away from tournament play for nearly six months.

Fifteen-year-old Mallory Burdette, the third and youngest in a line of tennis-playing Burdette sisters, proved at the USTA Girls 18 National Clay Court Championships she has made a full recovery from her injuries. An unseeded wild card entry, Burdette captured the title with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over 17th seed Mallory Cecil of Spartanburg, S.C., at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
