Recruiting Update
Jennifer Meredith: Team Player
by Julie Wrege, 26 May 2006
Last Saturday, I learned that Blue Chip prospect Jennifer Meredith (Marietta, GA) was ready to make her college decision - even though her junior-year final exams at Wheeler High School are still ahead of her.
Meredith decided almost a year ago to make an early decision.
"I watched a lot of my friends go through the recruiting process last summer. It seemed like a very stressful process - so hurried. So I decided I wanted to start last fall and take my time deciding - and not feel so rushed during this upcoming summer."
Meredith considered four major universities, all with great tennis programs. The lucky four are Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
On the Court
The Georgia native will clearly be an asset to her college next year. So far in 2006 she has compiled a 24-9 record in seven major national and sectional tournaments, including wins over UNC-bound Sanaz Marand (Katy, TX) and Amanda McDowell (Dunwoody, GA), who will play for Georgia Tech this fall.
