The event was held at the Frank Veltri Tennis Center in Plantation, Florida.

Preston (Henderson, Nevada), who won her first gold ball, was a 6-4 first-set winner over top-seeded Anna Bugaienko (Frisco, Texas), who retired in the second set because of an injury.

“I played aggressively and I stayed positive,” Preston said about her tournament performance.” I had a positive attitude and my plans worked out. My inside-out forehand worked for me, and the backhand down the line. I focused one point at a time.”
