Satterfield Triumphs in Boys 16 Clays Without Dropping a Set

On the same weekend Stephen Curry was thrilling folks at golf's American Century Championship in Nevada, one of his fans was outlasting everybody to win the singles gold ball at the USTA Boys 16 National Clay Court Championships in South Florida.
Seventh-seeded Jack Satterfield, who grew up in California's Bay Area, ran away for a 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 triumph against 10th-seeded Ronit Karki of East Brunswick, New Jersey at Delray Beach Tennis Center.

That triumph -- his first in four tries against Karki -- punctuated a remarkable week for Satterfield, whose family moved from Northern California to Tampa, Florida about three years ago. He defeated all seven of his opponents in straight sets.
"I've trained here in Florida, which is definitely a big advantage over some other kids who haven't," said Satterfield, who was a five-star prospect ranked 27th nationally among rising 11th-graders before the tournament.
