Christina Lyutova considers clay to be her favorite surface. She loves the feeling of sliding around the court and putting her footwork to the test.
Her results have provided further proof.
The top-seeded Lyutova defeated No. 2 Bella Payne 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the final of the USTA Girls 16 National Clay Court Championships at Athletic Club Alabama in Huntsville.

It was the second gold ball on clay this year for the blue chip rising eighth grader after also capturing the 16s singles title at the USTA Winter National Championships.
“It was very, very amazing. It was a great experience to play here and all of the matches were tough and all the players had different styles,” the 13-year-old Lyutova said. “The organization here is just amazing. The food, the staff, the referees and the organizer was so sweet and nice.”
