A little friendly encouragement led Parker Debnam to her college destination.
Debnam started her recruiting search last November, but didn’t start talking with William & Mary until this summer.
Debnam’s friend, Danny Cohen, is a freshman on the men’s team and suggested she reach out to the coaches. He told Debnam how much he enjoyed attending the school and gave her some insight into the tennis programs.

Debnam figured “What is the worst that can happen?” and contacted the coaches.
Head coach Jessica Giuggioli came to watch Debnam play at USTA National Clay Courts and assistant coach Brooke Pilkington came to watch her play at Hard Courts.
The four-star senior arranged an official visit to the Williamsburg, Virginia-based Division I school, and “absolutely loved it.”
“It’s the perfect fit for me with everything I was looking for,” said Debnam, who has verbally committed to the Tribe. “The coaches want to motivate you and help you get better, all the girls on the team were amazing and the school has great academics and a beautiful campus.”
