Zehra Suko knew there would be some family bias in favor of her attending the University of Washington.
The five-star senior from Kirkland, Washington was born at the UW Medical Center, her mom works at the college and her brother plays for the men’s tennis team. Suko grew up attending UW athletic events, including many women’s tennis matches.

She sought advice from her brother, Nedim, this summer after he completed his freshman year at UW.
“He told me how much he enjoyed the experience. Then, he was just telling me that I had to make my own decision and do what I think is best for me,” Suko said. “But he did say it would be awesome if the Suko siblings could be together at UW and I agreed.”
The Suko family legacy will add another branch at UW with Zehra having committed to play for the Huskies. She plans to graduate early from high school in December and join the program in January.
