USTA National Championships Begin Across the Country

After taking an unanticipated year off because of the Covid pandemic, the USTA National Championships have returned. Players are once again chasing the prestigious hard court titles, gold balls and U.S. Open wild card entries.
From Michigan to California to Georgia to Alabama, thousands of juniors will be taking the courts in singles and doubles.
The Billie Jean King Girls 18s and 16s National Championships at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego was the first to begin play, with the 16s singles starting on Wednesday. The Girls 18s matches begin Sunday.
The Boys 18s and 16s event at Kalamazoo College in Michigan begins on Friday with the first round of singles and doubles.
The Boys and Girls 18s singles and doubles champions will receive a wild card entry into the US Open main draw. The 16s champions will receive a wild card into the US Open Junior Championships.
The top seed in the Boys 18s singles is 2019 champion Zachary Svajda of San Diego. Martin Damm, who won the 18s doubles title in 2019, is the No. 2 seed. The No. 3 seed is Ben Shelton, a rising sophomore who helped Florida capture the program’s first NCAA team title in May. Fresno’s Ethan Quinn is seeded No. 4, and Wimbledon Junior champion Samir Banerjee is the No. 5 seed.
In Girls 18s singles, Robin Montgomery of Washington, D.C. is the No. 1 seed, Katrina Scott of Woodland Hills, California is seeded No. 2, Madison Sieg of Greenwich, Connecticut is seeded No. 3 and Alexandra Yepifanova of Lake Worth, Florida is seeded No. 4.
In Boys 16s singles, Alexander Razeghi of Humble, Texas is the No. 1 seed, Emon van Loben Sels of Sacramento, California is the No. 2 seed, Learner Tien of Irvine, California is the No. 3 seed and Lucas Brown of Plano, Texas is the No. 4 seed
In Girls 16s singles, the No. 1 seed is Theadora Rabman of Port Washington, New York, the No. 2 seed is Tatum Evans of McLean, Virginia, the No. 3 seed is Piper Charney of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and the No. 4 seed is Ariana Pursoo of Westbury, New York.

Grueling Final Day for Easter Bowl 12 & 14 Champions
The desert heat and air quality made for challenging conditions at last week's FILA Easter Bowl, with 14s champions Arjun Krishnan and Daniela del Mastro earning their titles with two victories on the final day, while 12s top seeds Lucy Dupere and James Borchard both competed for over three hours to secure their singles gold balls, before returning for two more matches in doubles.

US Juniors Dominate J300 FILA International Championships
Every finalist at the ITF J300 FILA International Championships in Indian Wells was from the United States, with top seed Jagger Leach sweeping the boys titles and Julieta Pareja claiming the girls singles championship in the event held during the second week of the BNP Paribas Open.
