Amid the final matches of the regular-season and the start of postseason play, Division I coaches were hit with some changes to the recruiting calendar.
New legislation was approved by the NCAA Division I Council last week to try and curb early recruiting.
Official visits can now begin September 1 of a recruit’s junior year in high school instead of the first day of classes for the senior year. Additionally, athletic departments can’t participate in a recruit’s unofficial visit until September 1 of the recruit’s junior year and recruiting conversations during a school’s camp or clinic can’t happen before September 1 of the junior year.
TRN contacted several Division I coaches from around the country to gauge their immediate reaction to the changes.
